We are a collaborative service providing a Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) to the residents of Cheshire. We offer forensic and medical care, emotional and psychological support, and practical help to anyone who has been raped or sexually assaulted.
We are a partnership between St Mary’s SARC, which is based in St Mary’s Hospital, Manchester and the Rape & Sexual Abuse Support Centre (Cheshire & Merseyside), which is a community based specialist sexual violence organisation (RASASC).
St Mary’s SARC offer forensic and immediate medical support for people of any age & gender who have been raped or sexually assaulted. RASASC go on to provide aftercare support – including help through the criminal justice system, ongoing health and social support, and specialist counselling.
Having a safe space to talk has made a big difference to me. Being able to talk without fear of being judged or blamed has helped me start to come to terms with what happened to me. I feel less guilty and I am no longer blaming myself. Counselling has helped me develop coping mechanisms and has taught me how to challenge my thoughts. My confidence has increased tremendously.
